CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS
It's not all about physical
exertion: the area offers a multitude of nature centres and museums that
illustrate the exceptional natural flora and fauna of the Beacons as
well as their fascinating geological history. There are opportunities to
relive the great steam age:

and even follow the footsteps of Wales's Coal miners on a guided tour of
Big Pot:

This is by no
means an exhaustive list of the many activities available on our
doorstep. For further information, check out

Biking
Wales is recognised
as one of the top ten best mountain biking destinations in the world and
the Beacons offer trails to test the mettle of the hardiest bikers as
well as more gentle paths. The Traveller’s Rest provides indoor storage
space for bikes and equipment and is ideally placed to serve as “Base
Camp” for your biking adventures.
We thank Tom Hutton for his
recommendation in Trail Magazine and Mountain Biking.
Mountain Bike hire is available in
Brecon (link) and more information can be obtained from
www.breconbeacons.org and local tourist information centres.
BOATING
Through the Traveller's well established garden
runs the Brecon Abergavenny Canal, and from here you can hire one of Bills
Day Boats or launch your own canoe to explore its tranquil waters and
visit some of the other watering holes on the canal bank.
